Glacier Nursery, Inc. in Creston, Montana is seeking applicants experienced in outdoor work with plants. If you have enjoyed working on a farm, in a greenhouse, performed landscaping, sold plants in a Garden Center, been a greenskeeper or even worked in a community garden, we would be interested in visiting with you. An education in Agricultural Sciences is helpful, but not essential.

The work is physically demanding, mentally challenging and changes with the four seasons. The spring work load will provide opportunities for advancement as well as overtime (time and a half). CURRENT POSITIONS:

    Container Tree Crewleader/Foreman
    Glacier Nursery, Inc. is looking for a grower experienced in container production and growing deciduous trees. The responsibilities include planting, maintenance (which includes trimming and spacing), pesticide applications and irrigation. You will be scheduling, organizing, and directing the production activities of a crew of up to six in the container tree yard.
    Qualifications Include:

    • Container and tree growing experience
    • 2 or 4 yr. Agricultural Sciences Degree
    • March through June working 5 ½ to 6 days per week; July through November Saturdays per need
    • Supervisory experience
    Pay range is $35,000 to $40,000 D.O.E.. Year round position with opportunity for advancement. We offer health insurance, generous 401k, vacation and holiday pay. Please send a resume and cover letter to bradb@glaciernursery.com

    Equipment Operator
    John Deere Skid Steers and John Deere Wheel Loaders - digging, pallet loading and unloading, truck loading and unloading, potting mix loading and other duties as assigned. Pay rate D.O.E.

    General Laborers
    Planting trees and shrubs into pots or in the field digging trees which includes pinning balls, crimping wire and tying tops of the trees and balls of the balled and burlapped plants tipping up pots, fertilizing and cleaning up the container yard from winter truck loading and unloading, tagging plants, tying tops and weeding pots and other duties as assigned not just limited to those listed here. START DATES: March as the work load increases

DURATION: Year round for our best workers, we try to keep people on through the winter if they worked all spring and summer, kept 16 this past winter.

LOCATION OF WORK: Here at the Nursery: 4343 MT Highway 35, Kalispell, MT.

PAY: $13.00 per hour depending on experience and attendance. Time-and-a-half for hours over 40 per week.

BENEFITS: After 3 months we offer a group medical insurance plan and cover 75% of the expense. After one year we offer one weeks paid vacation and six paid holidays. Participation in 401k plan.

HOURS: Currently Monday through Friday 7:30 - 4:00. During the peak season (April/May) Monday through Saturday 7:00 - 5:00 we may work up to ten hours per day up to six days per week.

CAPABILITIES:

  • Must be able to bend over repeatedly
  • Lift 50 pounds repeatedly
  • Carry 80 pounds up to 100 feet
  • Accustomed to working outdoors

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • This is a non-smoking work environment.
  • We work in a structured atmosphere where we work safely and efficiently.
  • Outdoor work requiring clothing that will keep you both warm and dry.
  • We take a 20 minute break in the morning and a 30 minute lunch in the afternoon.
  • We are paid twice per month.
